Sustainability

Labelad is continually exploring the use of new processes, products and materials that will ultimately lead to a year over year reduction to our carbon footprint. There is no one set path on the journey of sustainability. At Labelad, we have made the conscious choice to focus in three main areas to drive our sustainable initiatives.

  1. Lean and Green Manufacturing – recognized as a North American Lean Leader by the Association of Manufacturing Excellence. Labelad is committed to the efficient production of labels and flexible packaging materials required by our customers, while minimizing waste.  Our Label production, guided by Lean principles and resulting in Low Waste – High Yield, uses energy efficient production processes with minimum use of natural resources.

At Labelad, the focus is to never generate waste in the first place. What isn’t created eliminates the challenges of Reuse and Recycle. The adoption of the Lean Philosophy and commitment to sustainability is positively impacting the triple bottom line:  People – Planet – Profit.

  1. Raw Materials - sustainability is not just a passing fad that will eventually go away. This is a new exciting world in which we live and it presents a rapid growth of raw material innovations and options for our customers.

Labelad has partnered with industry-leading suppliers that equally share our commitment to using the most eco-friendly, sustainable materials. Some of the newer materials offered by Labelad are as follows:

Paper Products

Pressure Sensitive Labels made using 30% Post Consumer Fiber

Tree Free label stock made from renewable resources such as Grass, Leaves and Bamboo

Film Products

Biodegradable and Compostable Pressure Sensitive and Shrink Sleeve Labels made from renewable resources such as Corn (PLA) or Cellophane.

Thinner gauge face and liner stock.

Adhesives

Labelad is currently testing the use of benign, wash away and recyclable adhesives in combination with both Paper and Film facestocks.

  1. Packaging and Logistics – over ninety five percent of our products are received and shipped via ground transportation. Labelad’s sustainable initiative in 2008 is to ensure the maximized efficiency of every incoming and outbound truck.
Labelad would be happy to work with you and show the benefits of an optimally designed shipping case and packing configuration. Optimization is achieved by working from the shipping pallet back to ensure every available inch of space is initialized. By making use of every available inch of pallet space, we can greatly reduce the number of inbound material receipts and outbound shipments to our customers. The benefits of this initiative are a reduction in air pollutants, less congestion on our roads, reduction in warehouse space and much lower shipping costs.
